ADSORPTION COOLING

SIMPLY INGENIOUS—INGENIOUSLY SIMPLE

Adsorption is the deposition of gases or liquids on the surface of a solid. This bond is purely physical and can be dissolved again as often as required (desorption).

In the case of FAHRENHEIT’s adsorption cooling technology, the gas is water vapor – and the solid surface is zeolite or silica gel.

The special feature of these materials: They are very porous and therefore have an extraordinarily large inner surface. They can “adsorb” many water molecules like an extremely effective sponge.

The FAHRENHEIT cooling modules are also evacuated: under vacuum. Water therefore evaporates at much lower temperatures than would be possible under atmospheric pressure conditions. When the water molecules accumulate on the adsorber, they evaporate on the evaporater, causing it to cool down.
